The Memorable Magic Of Moss Manor | Our Staycation Experience

Some of my most favourite things in life are history, classic architecture, design, travel, and great attention to detail.

Recently, my Partner & I had the pleasure of staying at Moss Manor, where all of these passions were indulged.

Moss Manor, located in Moss Vale, is a circa 1890s Georgian building, once the residence of the Mayor of Moss Vale.

It is now a beautiful Boutique Art Hotel owned & operated by Louella Grattan-Smith.

Louella has created a welcoming, luxury guest experience in the heart of Moss Vale.

Staying at Moss Manor is equal to any of my favourite boutique art Hotels in Europe, where thoughtful attention is evident.

Within minutes of arriving, you feel like you never want to leave! From being welcomed like an old friend to the exceptional decor that embraces your senses at every turn.

Moss Manor Estate Accommodation Southern Highlands

Moss Manor has the perfect union of classic architecture & décor with contemporary design.

Each of the 8 suites displays stunning textiles and antiques along with modern touches, such as the most heavenly beds laid with crisp linens, fluffy towels, and luscious toiletries.

We stayed in ‘Room 1’, which features grand windows framed by stunning curtains made with Ralph Lauren linen, soaring ceilings with exquisitely embellished plasterwork, a comfortable lounge (and an ideal place to curl up with your favourite book), marble fireplace, and the piece de resistance, a centrally positioned free-standing marble bath. Heaven!

Being of a curious nature, and a lover of design, I was keen to see if the other rooms had this level of detail.

To my delight, every room carried the same level of attention along with its own individual, curated touches.

Modernity is beautifully executed with the impressive original artworks that are displayed throughout the hotel, curated by Campbell Robertson Swann of the Defiance Gallery in Paddington.

The fabulous thing is that these artworks are all available to purchase should you want to take a favourite piece home.

After settling into our room, we shared some fun conversation and a drink with Louella. As there is a private carpark we could leave the car and walk into town for a quick bite before retreating to the Manor's lounge area where Louella had kindly laid out some treats, which we enjoyed before retiring to our suite.

After a restful sleep, a leisurely breakfast was taken at the long farmhouse table that sits in the modern extension of the Manor.

Thoughtfully designed by architect Luke Moloney, the extension is a masterpiece of glass and iron and is the ideal place to take in the garden view whilst indulging in the delicious breakfast prepared and served by Martine, Moss Manor's friendly & accommodating Manager.

Moss Manor Review Southern highlands

Our stay came to an end far too soon, so we packed our bags and headed the long 2 minutes’ drive back to work!

Our Suzie Anderson Home Moss Vale store is just a few minutes from this outstanding accommodation, making it the ultimate staycation.

If you don’t have to head off to work, there are so many local attractions at your doorstep, from wineries, galleries, boutique shopping & antique stores, golf courses, cafes, restaurants, and plenty of fabulous bushwalking trails.

Moss Manor also offers the space for hire for small events and dinners, so we have booked it for our work Christmas Dinner for our team of eighteen.

Louella has been amazing in satisfying our love of design, hospitality, and the honouring of local Providores.

She has selected fine wines from local Southern Highlands wineries and has procured a local caterer who has created a delicious menu according to our individual needs.

We look forward to sharing this special space with our team and hope you can experience Moss Manor on your next trip to the Highlands.
