A Fragrance Rooted in Royal History

Few stories in the history of perfumery are as romantic as the one behind the Trudon Figuerie Collection. Louis XIV, the Sun King himself,  harboured a deep and unwavering passion for figs.

His renowned royal gardener Jean-Baptiste de La Quintinie planted more than seven hundred fig trees of different varieties in the kitchen gardens of the Palace of Versailles, creating a dedicated space known as the Figuerie.

La Quintinie was not only a gifted horticulturalist but an innovator. He pioneered espalier cultivation, training fig trees to grow along sun-warmed walls, to encourage faster ripening in the sometimes cool French climate.

It is from this extraordinary place that Trudon has drawn its inspiration for the Figuerie Collection.

The Figuerie Fragrance

The Figuerie fragrance finds its soul in the heart of the Sun King's gardens, where fig trees capture the first rays of spring. Like a game of light and shadow, this elegant scent is born from a contrast between the fresh and the deep; between luminous green notes and dark, earthy woods.

FAQs

What is the Trudon Figuerie Collection inspired by?

The Trudon Figuerie Collection is inspired by the Figuerie — a dedicated fig garden created by royal gardener Jean-Baptiste de La Quintinie within the kitchen gardens of the Palace of Versailles. Louis XIV had a passionate love of figs, and La Quintinie planted over seven hundred fig trees of different varieties to satisfy the King's desire. The fragrance captures the scent of those fig trees at the first light of spring: a contrast between fresh green fig leaves and deep, earthy woods that mirrors the interplay of sunlight and shade in the royal gardens.

What does the Trudon Figuerie fragrance smell like?

The Figuerie fragrance opens with fresh, green top notes of fig leaves, cedar leaves and humus ether — a natural, earthy quality that evokes damp soil and dew. The heart softens into floral and botanical notes of hyacinth, capahu and a green bouquet, before settling into a warm, woody base of sandalwood, tonka bean, tasuki patchouli and moss crystals. The overall effect is elegant and complex: simultaneously fresh and grounding, luminous and deep.
